Deeper Waters Podcast 9/6/2014: Lenny Esposito

What’s coming up on the Deeper Waters Podcast this Saturday? Let’s talk about it on Deeper Waters.

For those of you who were looking forward to Lynn Wilder coming on and talking about Mormonism, I’m sorry but we had to delay that show. Her father passed away recently and she has matters to do concerning that. Please be praying for Lynn and her wonderful family as they go through this time as not only has Lynn lost her father, but her children have lost their grandfather and as I’ve seen their posts on Facebook, they had great love for their family member.

I went to the Christian Apologetics Alliance when I got the news and asked if anyone could fill in. Fortunately, Lenny Esposito of Come Reason Ministries was able to step up and fill in the gap.

Lenny Esposito is president and founder of Come Reason Ministries, a Christian apologetics organization, and author of the popular www.comereason.org Web site. He has taught apologetics and Christian worldview for nearly twenty years and has authored hundreds of articles dealing with intellectually strenuous topics such as the existence of God, theology, philosophy, social issues and Biblical difficulties.

Lenny is an in-demand speaker, teaching at conferences, churches, and schools across thenation. He is a contributor to the popular Apologetics Study Bible for Students and most recently contributed to the book True Reason: Confronting the Irrationality of the New Atheism (Kregel, 2014).His articles have appeared in the Los Angeles Times and theSouthern California Christian Times. He has debated many topics on faith and reason and the rationality of the Christian worldview, including Richard Carrier on the question“Does God Exist?”

Lenny is a pioneer in online ministry efforts when he began using the Web to reach others near its beginnings in 1995. He produces one of the top 16 apologetics podcasts according to Apologetics 315 and his site has been viewed millions of times by visitors from nearly every country in the world.

Lenny is going to be talking about a number of topics. One will be about the relation of science to scientism and how even a scientism mindset has infiltrated the church. Could it be that as C.S. Lewis said years ago that we have had a spell of naturalism cast over us and it will take some incredibly powerful counter enchantments in order to deal with that?

Since Lenny has been doing apologetics ministry on college campuses, we’ll also talk about the impact of that. Some of you might be wondering what difference it makes that we have apologetics on campuses, but just today I heard from a parent who said their son came home after graduating from college and announced that he did not believe in God or Christianity. Yes people. This happens all too often.

So again, while I regret that Lynn Wilder could not be on for this episode, we will book her for another time. Meanwhile, I’m thankful that Lenny Esposito agreed to come and fill in and I look forward to a fascinating show discussing the questions of scientism and its relation to science as well as the importance of apologetics on college campuses. I hope you’ll be watching your ITunes feed this weekend for the newest episode of the Deeper Waters Podcast.

In Christ,

Nick Peters
